brainstorming, yes, you smelled smoke. Its me thinking.

I was thinking about  engines that wouldnt require the typical hood mods that the fhead motor requires on a flattie.

My flattie is in good shape, but I enjoy these mental bunny trails...

I had an iron duke 4cyl in my boat, thought it was a solid motor. I cannot find any information on the  net about the space requirements...

Has anyone here done one?

I did a Pinto into my M38 and I think that an Iron Duke  would make a good one to swap in to an early Jeep too.  Should use a GM bell housing.  Check with Novak and/or Advance Adapters for information.  You could check on the CJ2a page also.
Good luck with your project.  Keep us up dated on your progress.

Check out

https://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/engines/swap-guides/chevy-buick-gm/early-c...

Pretty much lays out what can be done with a flattie in terms of a engine swap.
