A little about me? Well I've had 4 different flatties over the years and now I'm restoring a 1950 CJ3A. It used to belong to a member here "Corpsman" I bought it from him a few weeks ago and intend to complete the restoration. I've built and/or restored many vehicles from hotrods to Harleys so I'm no stranger to the ordeals involved. Last years project was a 1961 Harley sidecar rig. I intend to go 4 wheelin' in my new jeep this summer! But I'm retired and can put in the hours needed without a job gettin' in the way. My new jeep is sitting at a friends house in Nashville and will be delivered to me this Saturday. I'll post pictures then. Meanwhile here's a pic of last years project. It's filthy cause I ride it more than polish it!

I don't know much about Harley's but I like the side car!

Have you ever ridden in it?...the side car I mean....

My brother had an ex-California Highway Patrol duo-glide when I was a kid...it probably had a million miles on it...late 50's early 60's vintage..

Welcome!

I don't know anything about them, but I love those old side cars.

Corpsman's old project...

It really looked like he lost interest.  Are you still planning on using the Kubota engine?

Put skis on that sidecar and you have got yourself a bobsled.  Welcome to the group!

Most of my Harleys are old and they are simple tractors, just like these Willys.  No I've never ridden in the sidecar, my seat is the drivers! I had a Ural sidecar rig a few years ago, It was my off road bike. She'd go anywhere a four wheeler would go just a little slower. That bike was Russian and REALLY simple. My wife loves her sidecar, carries all kind of junk in it's trunk and I think she naps when we ride, but she denies it.
I believe "lost interest" is what happened. I think the rear end overhaul got the better of him. It looks daunting but really it's not hard, just a little tedious. But to read the internet gurus talk, rebuilding one is something magical. Nope, no Jap engine in this girl, I'm rebuilding the little four banger, it's plenty for that Willys, but I am putting 11" brakes all around and a dual master for better stopping.
Skis on a sidecar bobsled. That requires snow and I don't do snow, southern boy here! If there's white stuff on the ground, you don't go outside.
