Trust me Bob, Iím not making judgments, or questioning the data you compiled.  Your book is my Willys Bible.  This is the only thing Iíve ever found that didnít make sense.

Knowing how little raw data there is on the 3A, and how many things can happen on 65 year old vehicles, I'm constantly amazed how well your book fills in the gaps.

But still a  question:
What about the Body number?
The above quoted lists deal  with chassis numbers.
Are they identical?

Why didn't they build them with a decent diesel engine?

The body tags disappear early in CJ3A production and never return.  I don't know if the body tag ever matched the serial number.  My 1949 CJ3A with serial # 13655 has a Body tag #13115

A difference of 540 cars produced "chassis only"?

I canít tell you why there is a skew like this.  Anything I would offer is speculation.

Bob W is the true 3A historian.  He may offer some ideas as to why.  I recommend his book to anyone interested in 3A history.  It, along with other documentation, will likely leave you believing that Willys Overland took their eye off the ball with regard to the CJ3A.

I have not picked up my Willys yet, but I did get the old title in the mail.  However, I cannot decipher what it actually means.  I guess I have to wait until December.  I feel like this is Christmas...I cannot wait!
