Pascal needs suggestions for the Website..

Hi guys,

Time for you , the members and owners of the 3A page to give your opinions again. Pascal has been busy reorganizing the main pages of our website, and has done a really good job fixing all the sorts of web issues we never get to see. I asked him about doing some editing of the current pages, to keep our stuff updated and CORRECT, and he is willing and able to spend some more time for us doing that.

He did suggest that I start a thread for member suggestions, so here it is. We are looking for several things..

First: Is there anything on the main website you see as an ERROR or just plain wrong? Bob W has suggested a few things about the side step page to me, and I'm sure there may be some other misinformation.. We have been slowly trying to remove active links to Jeep Rescue as Jonathan(our former webmaster and the originator of our site) is no longer doing jeep restorations, and it is misleading to have the links here. We still need to give him credit for starting this website so we can't just eliminate everything JR related. A history of the website page is in the works..

Second: Is there anything there that you would like to modify, or update to include new or better graphics, information etc??
I have a  few ideas but I would like to update our logo and make it consistent all across the website. We have Robertos artwork which is cool but I think something like my 2A page avatar, made as a logo, might be more appropriate for a website.I downloaded my picture below,so you guys can see what I mean..Right now it all depends on which page you go to what you see as a logo at the top. Take a gander, you'll see what I mean.

And third: What don't we have, that you think we should?  Honestly, I think Jonathan did an excellent job of finding jeep resources from all over the web, and we have a tremendous start at a world class website for flatfender info.

Try and concentrate on the actual 3A page website in your comments. Pascal is not doing anything with the FORUM at this time, just the website. Trust me that is plenty!

And THANKS, QUEBECJEEP as always. Your service to the jeep world is not going unnoticed.

(EDITED to make it a bit clearer and remove typos.)

I have a few modifications for a stock jeep that could be added, along with a few tips and tricks.

Go ahead and post up the details and if it looks doable we will put it up as a tech tip. If you put it in a post it should be all there for us to copy on to the webpage, the way I understand it. I think.  Grin

This would be a good one too for the main page, how to build your own matching jeep trailer. I have links to fenders and axles that would work too if you don't have the capabilities to make your own.

I sent ya a PM, Nate.. I like the trailer idea...especially if you can incorporate jeep parts in it like the springs, etc.

If I had access to a 6 foot brake I'd be thinking about a build it yourself version of the MBT/TC3 style trailers with a tailgate and a stronger frame, for trail use. I know it has been done already but a set of drawings and how to build it would be way cool, and perhaps save some of the real trailers for the restorers out there. So far this year I have hears of three nice trailers being cut up and modified for trail rigs.

Is your trailer close to a MBT in length and width? I have a feeling it is a little larger??

Oh yeah, much bigger and stronger. The bed is 7' x 4'6". I used jeep springs, spindles, hubs, wheels and tail lights on mine. You could also use jeep spring mounts and shackles. I didn't, but I wish I did.

Ok, some of you already know it but I put it here for everyone.

On your main website page "www.cj3apage.com", I've added a link to the "new" website model.

I tryed to reuse for now the old icon.

I need to fix some issues with Internet Explorer Browser version 8 at least.

I tryed it with Google Chrome and Firefox. It look working well. Did'nt check it yet with mobile device.

Anyway, give me your feedbacks.

Should we get rid of the old icon?
The problem with it is I'm not good with picture editor and we would like to remove/edit some description text in it.
Like change "My restoration" to "Restoration".
"Serial Number Database" to "CJ3A and Serial Number"

I use the same background color as the forum which is almost white. I think I will try with the clear blue from the forum.

Thanks

Ok, I fixed some issues with Internet Explorer IE. It work for version 7,8,9. Did'nt test it with version 6.

As for the background color, I tryed the forum cyan, whiteisssh, light blue and finally I took the darker blue in the forum header.

I tested my skills with picture editor.
I used Microsoft Paint and replaced the line separator by a look like NDT military tire pattern.

You have better skills then me ... share it with us.

I want to give a new "modern" look of the icon.

I like the tire track, Pascal! It came out pretty good!

By the way if anyone has photoshop skills and can photoshop a 3A parking light on that front quarter view of my DJ It would be great! (Or if you can take the same picture of your light colored 3A)

The parking light in that pic is a piece of blue sign vinyl.... Embarrassed

I'm still in a clud from teh dental work yesterday but hopefully I can get working on some suggestions for you tomorrow.  As you can see spelling is a challenge right now.  Shocked Grin Cheesy

Yeah, I feel like I saw that picture somewhere before...  Grin

Will a red jeep work? I can take one of mine.

There are a few typos on the main homepage.

I just added a web counter to see how many visitors I will have on the new page.

The one that was on the old site was not working anymore. I removed it last week. Nobody notice it I guess.

I also like the NDT tire track. The headlight bezel also looks a bit different than a CJ-3A, or is just my imagination?
